After announcing Menno Solo – The Reunion on September 12 at Amsterdam’s WestWeelde, the Dutch DJ has now revealed a new date for his historic live format, bringing him back behind the decks on English soil once again
What Menno de Jong announced at the end of 2019 truly felt like an almost definitive farewell to the world of music. An intense lifestyle that had gradually become increasingly stressful ultimately pushed him to step away from the scene in what seemed like an almost necessary decision, allowing him to begin a new chapter focused more on his personal life.
Over the years, however, the instinct and emotional pull of music slowly began to resurface naturally, suggesting that something may finally be changing.
After first announcing a Menno Solo reunion event on September 12 at WestWeelde in Amsterdam,a historic venue within the Dutch electronic music scene, Menno will now also return to the United Kingdom. In collaboration with Digital Society, the Dutch artist is set to perform on November 28 at The Warehouse in Leeds, a symbolic venue for one of Northern England’s most historic trance event brands.
This appearance will once again be presented as an exclusive reunion, an occasion in which Menno will likely bring back the sounds he left behind several years ago.
The Menno Solo series played a fundamental role in the success Menno de Jong built more than twenty years ago. His celebrated open-to-close sets, entirely curated by himself and renowned for their exceptional quality ,together with a string of excellent productions released during that era, allowed him to stand alongside the biggest names in the Dutch trance scene without hesitation. For this reason, it is easy to believe that this return is not intended to introduce something entirely new, but rather to revive a historic format that defined a significant part of his career.
The decision to add a second date to this comeback has already sparked widespread discussion among fans regarding the producer’s real future intentions. For the moment, however, Menno continues to avoid giving clear answers, neither confirming nor denying anything. Still, the current period the trance scene is experiencing seems to leave room for many possible surprises, and a definitive return from Menno de Jong, both as a DJ and as a producer, would be hugely valuable, regardless of whether he chooses to continue with trance music or explore different musical directions.
