Oh, it’s not an April Fool’s joke, it’s all true: a new catchy collaboration from Armin van Buuren is on the way
The latest in electronic music has often told us about epic musical collaborations, both in terms of live music that inside the recording studios: Armin van Buuren has taught us in recent years what it means to partner, especially in its current dimension, in the era in which trance music and techno music have decided to merge into one thing.
For example, last year one of Armin van Buuren’s iconic records was Follow The Light, a work created together with Hardwell that has thrilled the critics and that still today is equipped with a powerful, fast but catchy chorus.
Armin’s new experiment was presented this time during the Mainstage set at Martin Garrix‘s Ultra Miami:
Garrix, born in 1996, in his performance alternated with several big names of the EDM scene, from Zedd to Afrojack and finally Armin: their performance opened with what was the surprise of the evening, Sleepless Nights together with Libby is their first official collaboration: a track with a clearly trance atmosphere (the sound of the drop recalls some great classic) which is combined with a techno-trance beat that together embrace a classic EDM vocal part. To the founder of A State Of Trance, an expected and desired collaboration, the two Dutchmen who represent the passage of two different musical eras, compete with five victories each for the coveted annual Top100 DJ Mag award.
How will their year continue ? In the meantime, the Miami event was the occasion to highlight several news, in a context with an increasingly important musical scope, this year the organization celebrated its 25th anniversary and was certainly not unprepared. Armin, as always, managed to bring his two faces to this event, that of A State Of Trance where the names of Schrotthagen, Ruben de Ronde, Nifra, Maddix and Oliver Heldens alternated, the last two, were the authors together with the host, of the first b3b, in a decidedly explosive and out of control set.
His playlist on the Mainstage confirmed to us, if there was still any need, the musical universality of this phenomenon, which manages to convince and unite the entire panorama of electronic music and not only, among the few who know how to do it.
