Oliver Smith’s first album, ‘Footprints’, is on the way

Anjuna legend releases his first album next Friday, crowning over a decade of successes in the electronic music scene

The power of Anjunabeats music has, over time, shaped several iconic artists who remain true to its distinct musical vision. Among these producers, one name that stands out is Oliver Smith. The British artist has consistently showcased his unique creativity within the world of Above & Beyond’s label, having initially stepped into the music scene alongside Mark Pledger, forming the legendary duo Smith & Pledger: together, they produced timeless tracks (as Forever feat. Carrie Skipper from 2004, or White / Black, 2006) that have left a lasting imprint on the trance genre.

Later, Oliver embarked on a solo career, solidifying his reputation as one of the most respected figures in the progressive trance scene. From his debut single Nimbus/Tomahawk to his breakthrough track Cirrus, these early releases initially leaned toward a more traditional sound, aligning with the trance style of that period. As the years went by, however, Smith’s style evolved, maturing into a unique blend of progressive and tech trance. His extensive catalog over the past fifteen years has been complemented by a several carefully curated collaborations, trend-setting EPs, and singles, often created specifically for the dancefloor. Over time, this has become his signature style, an authentic guarantee within the Anjunabeats fold, and has garnered him a dedicated following of fans.

Despite his successful career, one notable absence in Oliver Smith’s discography has been a full-length album. That gap is finally being filled with the release of Footprints, a work that marks a new phase in his career. Ahead of the album’s release on May 2nd via Anjunabeats, we’ve already had a taste with three singles: Rely On Me, featuring Taylor, Breathe, with Midnite Amity, and the most recent release Lose Is A Feeling, featuring Susie Ledge. These three tracks confirm the evolution of Oliver Smith’s sound in recent years, characterized by a captivating mix of melodic progressive and tech rhythms.
