Fictivision vs. C-Quence – Symbols

In September 2003, Bart van Wissen and Joris van der Straten, better known as Fictivision and C-Quence , released on the label In Trance We Trust a track destined to become, over the following two decades, a true uplifting anthem made in the Netherlands: Symbols.

These were the years of the so-called golden age of trance. The Dutch imprint, a division of Black Hole Recordings, was dominating the international scene with top-tier releases. Yet, by the time of the official announcement, the Dutch duo had already paved the way for the single’s success. On May 10th of that same year, in fact, Tiësto premiered the track during his legendary Tiësto in Concert show at Arnhem’s Gelredome Stadiu, an event widely regarded as one of the most iconic performances of his career and in trance history, presenting it as part of his monumental eighty-track selection.

That very first play instantly captivated both the audience and Tiësto himself behind the decks, sparking an enthusiasm that would soon turn into lasting success. “Symbols” stood out as a unique track: refined, experimental for its time, yet bursting into a powerful and driving chorus. In the years that followed, the track continued to resonate thanks to its emotional bond with that historical moment and the strong nostalgic appeal that still makes it an eternal classic today.

Released on September 14, 2003 on In Trance We Trust:

Side A: Symbols (Original Version) 8:33
Side B: Symbols (Mesh Remix) 8:58
