The Slovakian DJ and producer has just kicked off an extensive world tour, having built a strong and confident identity over the past few years, bridging the gap between pure trance and its more energetic variant
The new trends emerging in the trance world have led to increasingly precise classifications of its many subgenres: when the sounds of older generations intertwine with more modern ones, often through reinterpretations of classic records, the question that naturally arises is almost always the same: “what genre am I listening to ?”
A question that, apparently, has never been a problem for Nikoleta Frajkorova, better known as Nifra: the Slovak DJ and producer, who has long been based in the Netherlands, boasts over fifteen years of career and a solid musical identity, shaped especially by her long-standing relationship with Markus Schulz’s Coldharbour label. It was with Coldharbour that she took her first steps, exploring a melodic trance style with strong tech influences.
From that collaboration came one of the highlights of her past decade: the official anthem of Transmission Prague 2015, The Creation, produced together with Schulz. In the years that followed, while remaining close to Coldharbour, Nifra’s reputation and collaborations grew, both with original productions and remixes. Her style, increasingly defined by powerful hooks and a sound that blends tech and hard trance, has become her signature.
This journey led her, last year, to release one of her biggest hits, Pull Me In with Eke, a track that received the widest acclaim of her career. This evolution naturally led her to release music on one of the genre’s most iconic labels: Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings.
But it’s especially in her live performances that Nifra has cemented her status. Her presence behind the decks is both elegant and confident, a sign of an artist who knows exactly what she wants to convey to her audience. Today, she is a regular figure at the world’s major trance events, recognized as a leading female figure in the tech and hard trance scene.
She is also respected by Giuseppe Ottaviani, with whom she performed a special B2B set at the Luminosity Beach Festival in June, and recently released the track Unified. This confirms her stylistic affinity with one of the scene’s most prominent names.
Her latest reinterpretation of The Beauty Of Silence, the iconic track by Svenson & Gielen from 2004, redefined its sonic profile, taking it into a powerful aesthetic that had previously remained unexplored, and perhaps even missing.
She is currently on tour, which will take her across Europe, China, and the United States until the end of the year. Now an essential figure in the modern trance scene, Nifra represents a symbol of continuity and dedication to these styles: a true icon.
