The Welsh trance producer is set to release this highly anticipated work on Armada Captivating, a label that has recently been putting out many reinterpretations of timeless classics
In recent years, the trend of creating something new through remixes or reworks of historic tracks has become a true tradition within the trance music production world. Breathing new life into iconic records by reimagining them in alternative styles has become a hallmark of some of today’s most influential producers. This year has already delivered plenty of examples, and many more are sure to follow. Among the labels that have embraced this philosophy is Armada Captivating, a sublabel of the Dutch powerhouse, which on October 24th will release what is likely its most important project of 2025.
Back in 2000, producers Steven Robin Helstrip (best know as The Thrillseekers alias) and Andrew Edward Perring (aka Pulser), under the alias Insigma, created Open Our Eyes , one of the most iconic and memorable trance anthems of its time, etched in the memories of countless fans from the genre’s golden era. Among those admirers is Matt Thomas, known as Asteroid, who twenty-five years later has decided to reinterpret this classic , a track he has described as his all-time favorite trance record.
The result is something rare: few producers manage to preserve the original magic of a legendary track while infusing it with renewed power and energy: the original arpeggios, combined with the fresh strength of the modern arrangement, bring back to life a form of trance that feels vibrant, elegant, and refined , a sound almost forgotten in recent years.
For the Welsh producer, now based in the Netherlands, this release represents the fulfillment of a musical dream , a meticulously crafted piece that crowns another year marked by significant growth and a string of successful releases, many of them on FSOE.
