The tracks released under the legendary Airscape alias in recent months will come to life once again along with other new tracks in this brand-new album, out on November 21 via Black Hole Recordings
Airscape is widely regarded as one of the most enduring and influential projects in the history of trance music: founded in 1993 through the collaboration between Johan Gielen and Jos Borremans, the project has evolved over the decades with various co-producers joining along the way, with Gielen remaining its central and constant figure: among the most notable partnerships is the one with Sven Maes (aka Svenson): between 1997 and 2005, the duo, also known as Svenson & Gielen, produced some of the most iconic and recognizable anthem in the entire trance scene, as The Beauty Of Silence (2000), Twisted (2001), Beachbreeze (Remember The Summer) (2003) and many others.
Recently, a photo surfaced on social media that surprised fans: Gielen & Maes were seen back in the studio, suggesting that a new collaboration might be on the way.
Johan Gielen’s connection to the Airscape name has never faded: many of his recent releases still carry the “present Airscape” signature, even though he now stands as the sole permanent member: over the last years, thanks to his strong partnership with Black Hole Recordings, Gielen’s creative inspiration has experienced a powerful new resurgence.
As he hinted in the interview he gave us a few months ago, this artistic journey has led to Etherflow, an album that brings together several tracks from the past few years and unites them into a cohesive, mature sonic vision: the official release date is set for Friday, November 21, via Black Hole Recordings.
Including 14 tracks, the album is already available for preview on Beatport, where listeners can sample each track: among the previously released singles are Beach Pearl [Robert’s Theme], Piano del Sol, In The Dust Where Love Is Gone (feat. Arkayne), Circles, Nordic Chant (with Shakespekears), Benguela (with Pierre Pienaar), Healing (feat. Gid Sedgwick), and the recent Ecstatica (with Daniel Wanrooy).
The album also features productions that go beyond Gielen’s signature uplifting trance sound, exploring breakbeat and downtempo influences, as in “Never Look Back” and All Of Me For All For You (feat. Katie Sky), resulting in a surprisingly rich and mature listening experience.
