After years of legal dispute, the Court of Appeal returns full control of the iconic trance project to its original frontman
“The meaning of life is to move on ✨ JEFF = back, more info soon” is how, a few days ago, Jeffrey Sutorius accompanied a completely black post that appeared on his Instagram feed. But it was only a matter of time: at the end of January, the Court of Appeal in The Hague (case reference IEF 23235) officially returned the historic Dash Berlin name to Jeffrey Sutorius.
Since 2018, except for a brief period between 2019 and 2021, the artist has continued his musical journey under the name Jeffrey Sutorius, following the long dispute that separated him from the alias under which he achieved international success. During that period, Jeffrey launched the label BODYWRMR, building a sonic identity different from the one the audience associated with Dash Berlin: a sound blending progressive house, EDM, and trance elements, supported by collaborations and a constant presence at major international events.
Now, however, the wait seems to be over: Dash Berlin is officially back in the hands of its historic frontman, although it is still unclear what the new structure of the project will look like and whether the original producers will still be involved.
The project was born in 2007 with Till The Sky Falls Down, followed by a series of iconic productions such as Waiting with Emma Hewitt and Man On The Run with Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren. In the following years, other key tracks were released, including Never Cry Again, the cover of Janeiro by Solid Sessions, World Falls Apart with Jonathan Mendelsohn, Disarm Yourself again with Emma Hewitt, and Apollo Road with ATB.
Ahead of this return under the historic Dash Berlin alias, on May 30 Buenos Aires will host Jeffrey Sutorius at Volumen 4 Shows Sunrise, where he will perform a special 3-hour set. Closing the night will be Cold Blue alongside him.
2026 therefore marks both a new and old beginning for Jeffrey Sutorius: if not this year, then when?
