In a mainstream music market that moves at such a fast pace that it becomes increasingly difficult to identify real dominant trends, trance music is experiencing a completely different phase: for over a year, the genre has returned to a central role in the evolution of electronic music, becoming a hub of ideas, talent and high-level productions that had not been seen for a very long time.
The return of legendary artists, the willingness of many historical figures to rediscover the sounds that defined their success, and the rise of a new generation of producers who grew up dreaming of the trance of the 1990s and early 2000s are all helping to lay the foundations for a 2026 that already smells like a historic year for the genre: among the emerging names attracting the attention of the most influential figures in the scene are DEVERAUX and S3PPA.
Born in 2007 in the Limburg region, DEVERAUX first gained attention at a very young age with productions such as Magic and Written On The Wall; up to the more recent Where Did You Go, released last March, his catalogue has consistently shown a strong focus on reviving 1990s rave-trance sounds, reinterpreted through a modern sensibility.
A similar path can be seen in S3PPA, alias of Dutch DJ and producer Siep Eringa, now considered one of the most promising names of the new European trance wave: his productions are rooted in the fusion between hard trance and mid-1990s hard house, a formula that continues to gain increasing recognition: a clear example is Gangster Violins, the track released last week together with BURNR. S3PPA will perform during one of Tiësto’s Sunrise Sets at UNVRS in Ibiza next August.
It is clear that both artists share the same sonic and nostalgic vision, the same that has also shaped the rise of producers such as Benwal, LAWTON (the latest alias of Ben Gold), KI/KI and SUPERSTRINGS, all key figures in this trance revival.
From the union of DEVERAUX and S3PPA comes Goosebumps, a track that has been circulating in sets by some of the world’s biggest trance DJs since the beginning of the year: supported live and in radio shows by Tiësto, featured in the latest A State Of Trance compilation, and recently named ‘Tune Of The Week’ in the last episode 1281 of Armin van Buuren’s iconic show, the release perfectly represents the spirit of the new European trance scene.
At 145 BPM, Goosebumps fully embraces the aesthetics of 1990s rave trance, blending brilliant grooves, nostalgic melodies and a strong uplifting character.
What makes this production particularly interesting is also the profile of its creators: DEVERAUX and S3PPA belong to a generation that did not experience the golden era of trance in the 1990s and early 2000s, yet they are rediscovering and reinterpreting its musical language with impressive results.
