Andy Duguid feat. Leah – Wasted

Scottish DJ and producer Andrew Duguid, better known as Andy Duguid, was one of the standout names on prestigious labels such as Magik Muzik and Black Hole Recordings throughout the 2000s.

Best known for his vocal trance productions, Duguid began a successful collaboration in 2007 with Latvian singer and songwriter Gita Lake, née Bakradze, better known by her alias Leah. Their first release together was Don’t Belong, followed in 2008 by Wasted.

The elegance and melancholic atmosphere of Wasted caught the attention of Tiësto, who included the track on his iconic compilation ‘In Search of Sunrise 7: Asia’. Its inclusion helped establish the track as one of the standout progressive trance productions of 2008.

Like many tracks from that era, Wasted isn’t built around a massive drop. Instead, it draws its strength from its vocals, melodies and atmosphere. One of its most memorable moments comes during the extended breakdown, where the distinctive sound of the guitar creates a beautifully melancholic, almost suspended feeling before the track gradually builds back into its intricate layers of progressive sound.

It is this delicate balance between the vocals, guitar and electronic production that makes Wasted such an elegant and timeless example of late-2000s progressive trance.
