Legendary German DJ and producer is experiencing an intense new phase of his career, and he gifts us this precious remix
Trance music is forever. If not for everyone, for artists like Torsten Stenzel, this is an undeniable truth.
Active for over thirty years in the trance scene and beyond, Torsten has produced iconic tracks under his main alias York, such as On The Beach, Reachers Of Civilization (1999), The Awakening (1997), The Fields Of Love with ATB (2000), and many more. German by birth but now based in Antigua, he is undoubtedly one of the pillars of the trance genre. His creative output remains as vibrant as ever: his latest album, Infinite, was released on Armada Music this past May 9th.
The winning formula of combining trance sonorities with evocative balearic or even “tropical” atmospheres and progressive house elements has always defined his style. Since the ’90s, this approach has shaped his sound. As we’ve often reported, the wave of classic trance nostalgia sweeping across the scene in recent years hasn’t left anyone untouched – York included. Two of his latest releases are remixes of his own greatest hits, such as The Awakening reworked by Dan Cooper and Ehren Stowers, and the dance/trance reimagining of On The Beach by FORTELLA and, again, at the end of March, the return of a classic project, Trance Allstars, co-produced together with Schiller, Dj Mellow-D, Talla 2XLC and Dj Taucher with Let’s All Be Stars.
This time, however, York steps into the role of remixer with a brilliant take on a track released this past March, All At Once by Daniel Wanrooy and Amber Revival. Wanrooy is one of the most profound and introspective producers on the Black Hole Recordings label and beyond, while Amber Revival revolutionized the progressive trance scene in 2023 with their unmistakable vocal style, featured in collaborations like If You Only Knew with Hel:sløwed, followed by Wildfire in 2024, and later Illuminate with Ruben de Ronde – just to name a few. They are singers, songwriters, and co-producers with wide-ranging influence in the global music scene and demonstrating their musical versatility, also their new tech-house alias AMRV, producing the refined Get Close together with Bolier.
All At Once was already one of the most distinctive tracks of this year, to the fusion of a brilliant vocal part and the polished progressive sound crafted by the Dutch DJ and producer. This remix adds a new progressive-trance dimension to the track, blending the original’s flawless performance with York’s masterful touch, resulting in an utterly enjoyable track.
Daniel Wanrooy & Amber Revival – All At Once (York Remix) will be available starting Friday, June 13th on Black Hole Recordings and it’s possible to pre-save it All At Once Rmx
