After nearly two decades, the “Voice of New York Clubbing” sessions will be celebrated with a special event in Berlin
There aren’t many artists in the trance scene – and in electronic music in general – who can boast a highly successful radio show or podcast with such a long run: among the few, Paul van Dyk undoubtedly stands out. With his renowned VONYC Sessions, he is about to reach a major milestone. The show debuted on 31 August 2006, a time many consider to be the peak of the legendary German DJ’s career.
At that time, Paul was the iconic face of the trance genre, acclaimed as the world’s best DJ according to the DJMag Top100 DJ (a title he would reclaim again at the end of the year). It was during this period that he launched VONYC Sessions, a two-hour podcast showcasing his selection of trance and progressive tracks. These were the years when trance sound dominated global charts, and Paul felt the need to connect with his audience online through the most modern and engaging medium of the time: the podcast. Week after week, the show became a fixed reference point for fans and enthusiasts eager to preview the latest in the trance, progressive, and techno music scene.
Even though, like most veteran DJs and producers, Paul van Dyk’s career has gone through various phases with different styles, the distinct trance imprint of his music has remained a constant—and this has been reflected in his podcast. Unlike many other podcasts or radio shows, VONYC Sessions has always maintained a highly personal editorial style. Paul van Dyk has almost always been the sole host of the episodes, with very few exceptions for special editions, such as the memorable 500th episode, where he invited Alex M.O.R.P.H. for a guest mix:
To celebrate the milestone of the episode #1000, which will air on January 24, 2026, Paul has decided to mark the occasion with a live event at the Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin. It will be a special night, enriched by the presence of other major names in the trance scene: Aly & Fila, David Forbes, Chris Bekker, and The Yellowheads will take turns at the decks alongside him to create a unique event in honor of twenty years of VONYC Sessions.
