The two Dutch producers and DJs currently represent trance music in every form
As this time of year arrives, the major summer festivals enter their closing phase, often delivering memorable nights to bid farewell to the season. For some time now, Armin van Buuren has chosen to mark this moment with special B2B sets, and this year he also introduced a brand new format: the F2F (Face to Face), which saw him share the decks with standout artists such as Oliver Heldens, Maddix, and soon Lilly Palmer, during the latest events at Ushuaïa.
With the summer chapter closed, the focus of the electronic scene immediately shifts to ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) in October. Armin’s presence there is practically a given, and this year he will headline a brand new B2B during the festival’s flagship event: AMF (Amsterdam Music Festival), where he will share the stage with KI/KI.
Now regarded as one of the most promising trance talents to emerge from the Netherlands, Kiki Wesselo has won over both audiences and critics with a strikingly distinctive musical identity. Despite keeping a low profile, she stands out behind the decks for her energy and creativity, focusing almost exclusively on sounds that recall ’90s trance with acid and rave influences. One of her mottos, ‘trance will never die’, even appeared on the cover of DJ Mag last year. Founder of the successful Slash label and active for only a short time, her rise has been nothing short of meteoric. Currently touring across the United States, Kiki has become one of the most in-demand figures in the clubbing scene thanks to her ability to blend old-school trance with the raw spirit of rave techno, a crossover that resonates equally with veteran ravers and the new generation. His reworking of Felix’s classic song ‘Don’t You Want Me‘ , released last year, remained unchanged at the top of several music charts, establishing itself as one of the most iconic tracks of the last few months.
This won’t be the very first encounter between Armin and KI/KI: the two already performed together on October 20, 2023, with a surprise set in the striking location of the former Bijlmerbajes prison, also during ADE.
This time, however, the appointment takes on an official character: on October 25 they will share the biggest stage of all, the Johan Cruijff Arena, during the Amsterdam Music Festival. It will be an opportunity to witness the fusion of two different worlds united by the same passion for trance: on one side, Armin’s international fame; on the other, KI/KI’s underground spirit. And it is not out of the question that the night may also bring the official announcement of ‘Bassline‘, their collaboration that has already surfaced in recent live sets.
An unmissable event that will showcase two of the most authentic philosophies of trance music, side by side at the console.
Of course, it is still possible to buy tickets for the big night of the Amsterdam Music Festival on October 25th.
