Very few trance artists have ever had the honor of being nominated for a Grammy Awards. In 2019, Cosmic Gate achieved this milestone thanks to a remix destined to leave its mark for years to come.
In December 2017, the American duo Gabriel & Dresden released their second studio album, The Only Road: a project blending progressive trance, house, ambient vocal textures and downtempo moments: a diverse tracklist that, however, called for some stronger and more decisive production work.
This is where Cosmic Gate come into play: in February of the following year, they selected the track Only Road from the album and created a remix that would go on to become iconic. Their version completely transforms the original, elevating it into a true anthem: a driving, powerful beat opens the way for Sub Teal’s evocative vocals, which lead into the timeless explosion of the chorus. A nearly flawless formula that dominated Anjunabeats artists’ playlists that year and beyond, becoming a staple at trance festivals around the world in the years to come.
And that’s not all: one year after its release, this remix even earned a nomination at the 2019 Grammy Awards for Best Remixed Recording, an achievement both rare and incredibly difficult to match.
