A spectacular remix of the legendary 1996 track of Ferry Corsten drops this Friday on Spectrum
It’s never easy to find the words to do justice to certain careers in the history of trance. Ferry Corsten’s is one of them in every respect: quality, discretion, and consistency have always defined the path of the DJ and producer from Rotterdam. This year, his first major chart success under the alias Moonman celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Long before his monumental achievements under his own name and the legendary tracks Gouryella and System F, Ferry’s story ran through Moonman and the iconic single Don’t Be Afraid. Released in 1996, its psychedelic melody perfectly captured the dance sound sweeping across Europe, while adding the signature tempos and tones of melodic trance, a style that Ferry and other mid-’90s pioneers were shaping into its definitive form. The EP, released on Sci-Fi Records, also included Galaxia, another track destined to become one of all-time trance greats.
Over the years, Don’t Be Afraid has been revisited multiple times, and now, thirty years on, another Dutch music icon, Joris Voorn, offers his own fresh take.
Joris Voorn’s version masterfully fuses progressive and trance, honoring the techno/house roots of the Amsterdam producer while delivering a thrilling reinterpretation for trance fans.
