The official video of the B2B between Armin van Buuren and Deep Dish in Rotterdam last February has finally been released, opening with an unreleased and exceptional track
When the team behind A State Of Trance, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary celebrations in Rotterdam last February 27–28, announced last January the presence of Deep Dish alongside Armin van Buuren for one of the B2B sets scheduled during the weekend, two immediate thoughts came to mind.
On one hand, the apparent gap between the genres represented: Deep Dish, for over thirty years among the leading figures in the global house scene in all its forms, and the more purely trance-driven identity of the event. On the other, however, there was a clear awareness of the duo’s broad and cross-genre musical vision, something they have consistently demonstrated throughout their career, often touching on sonic territories close to progressive and trance. The most immediate reference, in this sense, is Say Hello: a track that, during a particularly fertile era for trance, naturally found its way into the playlists of the scene’s leading names, including Armin van Buuren and Tiësto, who embraced it without hesitation. And it’s not hard to understand why: that track was and still is a true journey. It’s no coincidence that Paul van Dyk also delivered a memorable reinterpretation of it.
This brings us to Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Ahoy in Rotterdam: on the mainstage, the B2B takes shape, met with great anticipation from the crowd and, of course, from us as well. The usual questions arise: what will they play? House? Trance? Progressive?
Any doubts fade within the very first notes: a brand-new track, still an ID, opens the set: the sound is instantly recognizable as a meeting point between the artistic identities on stage. Certain atmospheres echo Say Hello, emerging like a shiver carried by an intense female vocal, before unfolding into an elegant and refined progressive trance drop, with sonic textures reminiscent of an earlier-era Armin van Buuren: no rigid structure, no defined boundaries, just music.
The track, still untitled, captivated us instantly with its clarity, its sonic brightness, and that lingering sense of beauty that stays with you, played exclusively on that occasion and now highly anticipated.
The B2B between Armin van Buuren and Deep Dish then continued along a sonic journey weaving together classic trance, techno, and progressive house without the need for labels or forced interpretations. Just music, in its purest and most authentic form.
