Steven Robin Helstrip is the name behind several projects closely associated with the world of trance music, some of which have left a lasting mark on the genre’s history.
The breakthrough moment in his career came in 1998 with Synaesthesia, released under his most renowned alias, The Thrillseekers. It was his first venture into trance production and a track destined to become a true phenomenon, later receiving multiple reworks and reinterpretations over the years. Even today, it is widely regarded as one of the defining records of the genre.
In 2003, the British producer embarked on a new artistic journey with the Hydra alias, making his debut with Affinity. From that point on, he developed a parallel discography filled with highly regarded productions, a path that eventually led to the release of Amber in 2016.
Unlike many of his previous works, Amber follows a different creative approach and finds its greatest strength within its breakdown. The break is enriched by a series of melodic notes that create an intense and captivating atmosphere, instantly capturing the simplicity and beauty that lie at the very heart of trance music.
Released on Future Sound Of Egypt, the track received remarkable acclaim, reaching sixth place in ASOT‘s Tune of the Year poll for 2016 while also earning frequent support from Above & Beyond throughout their ABGT broadcasts. That same year, Skylex delivered a remix of the track, followed two years later by Vintage & Morelli, who offered their own interpretation of a melody that perfectly embodies the emotion and uplifting spirit of trance music.
