‘God Help Me’: Plumb and Bryan Kearney strike again

In recent years, several trance producers have embraced the trend of using existing vocals, often taken from songs released in musical genres quite distant from electronic music. In particular, when these vocals – often intense and full of emotion – are incorporated into uplifting trance sound, the result is surprisingly effective. The emotional energy of the typical breaks in this subgenre blends with the depth of the original vocal performances, creating a powerful and engaging contrast that amplifies the impact of the track.

Among the producers who have best capitalized on this trend is Bryan Kearney. After a four-year wait, as he himself stated, the Irish producer managed to breathe new life into a song by Plumb, perfectly adapting it to his style.

Their collaboration is not new: in 2017, their All Over Again reached the top of the trance charts, becoming one of the emblematic songs of that season: even earlier, in 2015, Bryan Kearney remixed the track Need You Now (How Many Times) and finally, in 2019, Key4050 project – a collaboration with John O’Callaghan – teamed up with Plumb had brought the track I Love You to the top.

But it was 2022 that truly cemented their creative partnership, with Take This, a song written in collaboration with Out Of The Dust, which nominated Tune Of The Year in A State Of Trance Top50 in that year.

Kearney, a veteran of the UK electronic scene and a key figure in the uplifting trance world, found in Plumb an extraordinarily versatile voice. The American artist, with a background spanning rock, pop, and electronic music, has also earned recognition in the trance scene, attracting the attention of various producers like Paul van Dyk and Ben Gold, and becoming one of the most recognizable female voices in the genre.

On May 30th, via Armada Music, God Help Me will be released, a new version of a track from Plumb’s 2018 album Beautifully Broken. From the same album, in 2020, Aly & Fila, also, amazed us by reimagining Somebody Loves You in trance style, a song that also reached the top of the charts (and Tune Of The Yeear 2020 in A State Of Trance). Fascinated by the depth of the original vocal, Kearney crafted a powerful, emotionally charged production around it.

The idea of reworkings tracks from vocalists’ albums is a trend that has gained traction in the trance world in recent years: Bo Bruce and Paul Webster’s recent Holding The Light is an example of this.

Previews have already sparked excitement among trance lovers: with such a solid legacy, God Help Me has all the ingredients to become one of the most iconic trance tracks of 2025.
