‘Serendipity’ and ‘Need You By My Side’ are two tracks created together, first premiered in Armin van Buuren’s sets last year and now scheduled for official release next week
Are there more stars in the universe, or more collaborations by Armin van Buuren throughout his career? A question that’s less trivial than it may seem: the A State Of Trance legend, especially in the early part of the year, often uses key events such as the A State Of Trance Festival (particularly the Dutch edition) or the Ultra Music Festival in late March to preview many of the collaborations that will shape his yearly discography. And this year is no exception.
In the first four months of 2026 alone, a wide range of collaborations has already been released, spanning trance and its surrounding genres: the progressive collaboration with Glockenbach on Sun Shines On Me; the techno-driven double release with Lilly Palmer on Ayi Giri and Dopamine, alongside the collaboration with Maddix and Caroline Roxy on Mouth Go Lala; the standout vocal trance track Lost In Time with Alle Farben and ROSY, already a strong contender for one of the defining tracks of the year; the explosive Vem Comigo with Olive Anguz; and more recently, the fusion of trance and melodic techno in Like A Child alongside ARGY.
Next week will finally see the release of a collaboration that has been previewed since last year: a two-track EP created with Andrew Bayer: interestingly, Armin van Buuren and Andrew Bayer had never officially released a standalone collaboration before this project: however, Bayer is credited as co-producer on Let It Be For Love (with JAI RYU): notably, the chorus of that track strongly recalls the sound of Sun & Moon by Above & Beyond and Richard Bedford (2011), a track co-written by Bayer himself, who also contributed to numerous productions by the London trio.
The American DJ and producer has recently been busy with Seven Lions and Oaks on their dubstep/progressive track Hurricane released on March 3 via Ophelia Records.
The EP, set for release on May 7, will feature Serendipity, the title track, a vocal trance track that clearly showcases the stylistic fusion between the two artists; this track is set to feature on Mix 1, Pulse, of the upcoming A State of Trance 2026 compilation, due out May 8. Completing the release is Need You By My Side, a more energetic trance track that already appeared in their sets and on last year’s A State Of Trance Ibiza 2025 compilation.
Serendipity by Armin van Buuren & Andrew Bayer will be released on Thursday, May 7 via Armind.
