The beginning of the new millennium marked, for trance music, the birth of the most globally recognized phase in its history.
While several giants of the genre were emerging, Stuart James Langelaan, better known as Lange, had already reached a solid stage in his musical career. Tracks such as I Believe (1999) and Follow Me (2000) already perfectly represented the natural trance atmospheres of that era, which were gradually moving away from the dance music scene.
In 2001, however, Lange experienced the true breakthrough that would firmly establish him among the leading producers in trance, thanks to one track: Drifting Away.
The creation of this masterpiece came through the collaboration with vocalist Skye, later known as Katie Marne. Here, the British producer’s sound reached its definitive evolution, driven by a persistent, enchanting and determined melody. It was precisely this musical theme that, over the years, inspired countless producers to reinterpret the track through remixes spanning different musical shades and styles, giving the original version both a remarkable historical value and a timeless beauty that remains untouched to this day.
